Following on from our first year of holding a Remembrance day event, we were all set for our second year. We used the same location (The Nueva Trinidad Bar) due to its space outside and availability of parking for visitors. Yet again the Trinidad (Trev & Bev) provided some lovely meals!
Unfortunately there were no pipes played this year as Craig’s bagpipes were, let’s say a little poorly, instead Steve Jackson, who provided entertainment again, played The Last Post over his sound system.
The raffle was bigger this year and more people turned up, some wearing their medals, which is so nice to see. As many Veterans will tell you, the wearing of medals is not about them, but the people who served in those theatres of operation, and never came home.
The raffle and donations raised an impressive €600 which was handed over to the Chairman of the Royal British Legion, Zurgena branch.
We began to see that in just 2 years, the Remembrance service was appreciated and attended by people who wanted the time, the environment, to remember. Our service was non denominational and so would allow anyone to come, irrespective of any particular religious faith or belief.
